In February, I had the honor of visiting Oak Grove Elementary School in Lexington, South Carolina to talk about my writing process, talk to the students, answer their questions, and sign some books. I had such a fun time! Immediately upon arrival, I noticed how beautiful and bright their library is. It has a nostalgic feel since it reminds me of the libraries in my schools growing up. Not in an outdated way, but in a cozy, creative, and fun way.
I presented to both the 4th and 5th grade students, who are bright and inquisitive. They had all kinds of interesting things to talk about - questions, comments, and even some jokes. I love how open, interested, and funny kids can be.
The librarian - Mrs. Brazell was so welcoming and accommodating. It’s no secret how much I love libraries and librarians, and Mrs. Brazell is a great reason why!
My mom also accompanied me to this school visit (that’s her with me in the last photo!) and it was so nice, fun — and a little nerve wracking — for her to see what I do. :)
Thank you so much, Oak Grove Elementary School, for having me! I love school visits so much because I love interacting with my readers.
